Now there’s the competition of the ages. Bachmann recently visited the Republican Liberty Caucus in New Hampshire and demonstrated ignorance of US History equaled only by her ignorance of the Constitution.
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) made a high profile trip to New Hampshire today as part of a potential 2012 presidential run, but the tea party favorite, who often refers to the early days of the Republic in speeches and media appearances, embarrassingly mangled basic American history, incorrectly stating that the battles of Lexington and Concord, and the Pilgrims landing at Plymouth Rock, to have occurred in New Hampshire, instead of Massachusetts:
“What I love about New Hampshire and what we have in common is our extreme love for liberty,” the potential GOP presidential candidate said. “You’re the state where the shot was heard around the world in Lexington and Concord. And you put a marker in the ground and paid with the blood of your ancestors the very first price that had to be paid to make this the most magnificent nation that has ever arisen in the annals of man in 5,000 years of recorded history.” […]
“I’m thankful that you are the first in the nation state because you are the liberty state,” Bachmann said. “That is your charge. You keep that baton of liberty. You’ve done it very well for almost 20 generations from the time the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, and I’m sure the very first one came up to New Hampshire and said, ‘This is where I want to be.’”
Of course, as the school children in attendance at the speech could likely tell her, the Battles of Lexington and Concord that sparked the American revolution in 1775, and the Pilgrims’ landing, took place in Massachusetts, not New Hampshire, “but Bachmann did not correct her error when she referenced the battles again later in her speech.” Ironically, The Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire, which hosted the event, handed out pocket-sized copies of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution “on a table a few feet from where Bachmann spoke.”… [emphasis original]

Is it any wonder that the less educated voters are, the more likely they are to vote Republican? If it any wonder that Republicans want to dismantle education? Who gets your vote?

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
I wonder how many were in that audience going “Right on! We started the revolution!”
😛
Well, Bee, considering that 100% of them were people who would actually go to see Batshit Bachmann, I’d say about 95% or more.
Bachmann got a “degree” in Tax Accounting from Oral Roberts U. That should answer the question. Not a very intellectual field of study for a not very intellectual shrew who went to a not very intellectual school. She must have snored loudly in her history, government, and economics classes…
Jack, ORU has an excellent pastoral studies program for extreme Supply-side pseudo-Christians, but it’s not the place to go for accounting.
Once you drop down to a level like palin or bachmann the line has already been crossed. There really is no comparing at that point as they will continue to astound each in their own special way.
Welcome Muffler. 🙂
Excellent point. A bag of rocks could beat either.
It is astounding that Anyone could ,even for one minute consider this dim bulb a suitable candidate for the most powerful position in the world—- Even dumber than Palin ? Both of them together cannot equal the intelligence of a box of rocks–but they sure do get attention away from real issues–
I think that’s what they’re for, and doubt that either has a chance for the nomination, but the Baggers may bugger the GOP tail.
I’m torn as to which one’s dumber, but Michele Bachmann’s ignorance seems more surprising. She’s a tax attorney, yet …

She must have been snoozing during accounting class.
