Craving must generate stress, and stress, exhaustion, because it caught up to me yesterday. I took a nap at 9:00 AM and slept, with breaks for food, until after midnight. In any case, I am current on comments.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today it took me 4:21 (4:51 average). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From NY Times: A bipartisan group of educators and business and labor leaders plan to announce on Monday their support for a common curriculum that states could adopt for public schools across the nation.
The proposal, if it gains traction, would go beyond the common academic standards in English and mathematics that about 40 states adopted last year, by providing specific guidelines for schools and teachers about what should be taught in each grade.
I have always supported local control, but I’m questioning that, because the control some of the red areas of our nation exert seems intent on destroying public education. The curriculum should be extended to include science and history.
From Crooks and Liars: Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) believes Americans should buy products made in the US, but he seems a bit confused about what those products might be.
In an interview with ABC’s Christiane Amanpour Sunday, the senior senator from Arizona incorrectly declared that Apple’s iconic iPhone and iPad products were made in the US.
McConJob is a Republican, so he’ll tell any lie to make his point. When I last purchased a TV and a computer, I looked for ones made (not just assembled) in the US, with no success. I support buying American, but what’s a consumer to do when Republicans have exported entire industries.
From News Hounds: Fox News officials are willing to say — anonymously, of course; they don’t want to be identified as criticizing the talent — that they are looking at the end of his contract in December and contemplating life without Mr. Beck.
No individual better expresses the sanity and integrity of Fox and the Republican Party for whom Fox propagandizes than Glen Beck.
