Yesterday was a very bad day for Republicans and their struggle to establish one party rule by destroying unions. Rarely, if ever has a party done so much in a single day to expose their own stupidity, dishonesty, incompetence, and greed. It began when Wisconsin’s Court Jester Governor fawned over a lefty blogger, thinking he was sucking Koch, and ended in the labor’s first victory in this struggle, with a crime and some more fun in between, as the following articles and video’s reveal.
For the record, I admit that it was dishonest for Ian Murphy of The Buffalo Beast to punk Scott Walker, but the level of deception does not come close to a Republican smear job. The difference is that Murphy posted the complete audio of the conversation in two parts, here and here. A Republican hit would use creative editing to change the context of what was said to deceive the public, like the O’Keefe smears of ACORN. That said, I congratulate Murphy on a magnificent coup.

Walkers plan to trick Democratic Senators into giving him a quorum and his consideration of hiring thugs to make trouble are particularly despicable. Plus I cannot get over the way the little fool kept kissing butt!
As if that were not enough for one day, in Indiana a Republican State official demonstrated the extent of Republican hatred for Main Street Americans.
An Indiana deputy attorney general lost his job Wednesday after commenting online that authorities should use “live ammunition” to run off the throngs of protesters railing over union collective bargaining rights two states away in Wisconsin.
The former state prosecutor, Jeffrey Cox, attached the comment “Use Live Ammunition” in response to a Feb. 19 Twitter posting by a writer for Mother Jones magazine. The writer, Adam Weinstein, wrote that riot police officers had been ordered to clear protesters from the Wisconsin state capitol in Madison.
The rumored 2 a.m. Sunday expulsion of protesters in Madison never happened.
Mother Jones on Wednesday published an article about Cox’s Twitter posting and other inflammatory remarks the former state prosecutor had made online. By the end of the day, Cox had been fired from his job.
“Civility and courtesy toward all members of the public are very important to the Indiana Attorney General’s Office,” the agency said in a prepared ‘statement. “We respect individuals’ First Amendment right to express their personal views on private online forums, but as public servants we are held by the public to a higher standard, and we should strive for civility.”
Cox’s initial Twitter remark Saturday night set off a pointed online exchange between the prosecutor and the author of the Mother Jones article.
Cox, according to Weinstein, called the demonstrators “political enemies” and “thugs” who were threatening to injure elected officials.
“You’re damned right I advocate deadly force,” Cox purportedly wrote, according to the Mother Jones article. He also called the author a “typical leftist,” and wrote, “liberals hate police”….[emphasis added]

I’m hoping that cox was just being wise-ass, when he made the original suggestion, but there is no place in government for people who suggest such things, current Republican members of the US Congress and Republican presidential hopefuls included. You never know who might be listening or what they will do, as the picture above should clearly show.
Ed Schultz lowers the boom on Cox.

We’re still not done. None of this is the kind of stuff that the Republican Ministry of Propaganda, aka Fox, likes to tell the sheeple. Since there was no good news (from their warped perspective), they took the recent poll results, overwhelmingly supporting the unions over the Republican plot to destroy them, switched the numbers, and lied.
If you see idiots claiming that the public supports Walker, now you’ll know why.
All this was too much for the Indiana Republican Party. They choked.
Republican lawmakers in Indiana have given up on a controversial anti-union bill that drove Democratic legislators out of the state, but Democrats want to see other controversial bills dropped before they return, the Indianapolis Star reports.
Like Wisconsin Democrats before them, Indiana Democrats yesterday fled their state to stall a vote on a state bill that would weaken unions. But while the legislative battle rages on in Wisconsin, the Indiana labor measure known as the “right to work” bill is now effectively dead. Republicans in the state say they will move the issue to a legislative committee for review later in the year, according to the Star.
The bill in question would have prohibited union membership or fees from being a condition of employment… [emphasis added]

To clarify, if the employees in a plant have unionized, accepting work there requires union membership. In a so called “right top work” state, like Indiana Republicans wanted. Union shops can hire non-union workers at whatever pay rate they will accept. If such workers are available, companies can fire the union workers and replace them with non union personnel. In “right to work” states, average workers (all workers, not just union workers) earn about $5,000 less than in states that respect collective bargaining.
This was a big win for labor and the Democratic Party. And the beauty is that Republicans showed their true colors along the way.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Now that Cox needs a new job, he should send his resumé to Qaddhafi. Sounds like just the kind of guy he’s looking for.
An excellent Suggestion. But I don’t think the Republican Party of Libya will be here long.
Cox is your typically ignorant bible belt type one finds all across rural and suburban Indiana. Remember, as late as 1924, they had a KKK governor! Still, it is encouraging to see him fired and for that godawful Indiana GOP (who gave us Dan Quayle) tucking their necks in on the anti-union measures.
Jack, it’s hard to call him ignorant when he has a law degree.
Although ‘ignorant’ generally means — unknowledgeable, uneducated, or uninformed; the word ‘ignorant’ originally comes from the Latin: Ignoramus
It entered the English language, with the introduction of the ignorant lawyer, Ignoramus, the titular character in the play IGNORAMUS by the English playwright Georges Ruggle in 1615.

Welcome Murky! 🙂
Thanks for the link!
Wonderful article and will share it on FB, and probably highlight the Fox catch. Are you being sarcastic about not being ignorant because Quayle has a law degree? I hope so. Sadly, he’s a very, very distant relative.
Thanks Leslie. I wasn’t kidding at all. Ignorance is a different problems. Ignorant people lack knowledge. Cox and Quayle are well educated fools. They lack sense.
Simply put, any bad day for Teapublicans is a good day for us.
Let’s see … yesterday they were exposed as lying, hate-mongering a$$holes who are more than willing to use violence against anyone who disagrees with them. (But that’s nothing new – it just got exposed some by the MSM.)
Well, since it was clearly a dies horribilis for them, it was an absolutely Wonderful Day in the Neighborhood for us!
And I can almost picture you singing it. 😉
//For the record, I admit that it was dishonest..//
Not really…. Walker would not return any calls from the State Dems seeking to negotiate…. but picks up the phone for a Koch Bro.
Further, it is not just about collective bargaining….. an item in the budget would allow Walker to sell State owneed power plants without competitive bidding, at any price, to anyone..
16.896 Sale or contractual operation of state-owned heating, cooling, and power plants. (1) Notwithstanding ss. 13.48 (14) (am) and 16.705 (1), the department may sell any state-owned heating, cooling, and power plant or may contract with a private entity for the operation of any such plant, with or without solicitation of bids, for any amount that the department determines to be in the best interest of the state. Notwithstanding ss. 196.49 and 196.80, no approval or certification of the public service commission is necessary for a public utility to purchase, or contract for the operation of, such a plant, and any such purchase is considered to be in the public interest and to comply with the criteria for certification of a project under s. 196.49 (3) (b).
…. in essence this allows Walker. WITH NO BIDS, to sell State owned power plants at a price his flunkys set.!!!
another shortcoming of getting rid of collective bargaining is that, under federal law, it would void almost $46MM in fed aid now allowed. He states that Wisco is in the red…. and pushes it there further.
Jim, I’m not saying there was no justification, but deception is dishonest by definition. Walker is far more dishonest. What’s more, as your info points out so well, he is thoroughly corrupt.
i think it is interesting that mr. cox looks like dwight schute.
I don’t know what Schute looks like, John. Are you talking about the yo-yo guy and not the BBC guy?
I think he’s referring to Dwight Schrute – that guy on NBC’s “The Office” – and yeah, he does!
Thanks!
“ENEMIES OF THE STATE” . . . Wgoi the hell do these Republicans think they are? Mao’s Commy party in China? The rulers of Northn Korea?
David they think they are the future founders of the Fifth Reich. (The Fourth lasted only 8 years and wrecked the economy.) 😈
