Yesterday I rested, because I was exhausted.  I still am, because my upset over the debacle seems to have brought insomnia with it.  So what I do today will depend on how I feel.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today it took me 4:14 (average 5:07).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From NY Times: One day after a heated election that was initially considered too close to call, John Kitzhaber became the new governor of Oregon when his Republican opponent announced he was conceding.

What a relief!  I was sweating this one, big time!  When a completely unworthy candidate almost beats a Democrat in Oregon, you known that the secret money matters!

From Alternet: Afghanistan – The U.S. government will spend $511 million to expand its embassy in Kabul, the U.S. ambassador said Wednesday, describing the work as a demonstration of America’s long-term commitment to Afghanistan.

This is a complete waste of money.

Happy hump day!

  1. Congrats to Oregonians – you got to “Do Right” to Dudley, and gave him the boot! And it looks like Minnesota, Illinois and Vermont are also going Blue!

Nate Silver’s 538 has a cool interactive map that’s still being updated. The link is for “Governor” – but you can just click the tabs to view up-to-the-minute Senate, House and Proposition results:

  2. Love that cartoon! Fucking fools will spend a trillion or two to kill Iraqi’s who used to live in a sovereign country and join a 2000 year old war in Afghanistan that no outside force was ever able to prosecute to a desired conclusion. Bring all of our children home from everywhere and let the powers that be defend them. We still have non nuclear ICBM capability if needed.

If you want me to get really radical nationalize all businesses based in other countries who are using America as a milk cow. Call it the Chavez model of government.

  3. 5:19 I thought I would be quicker. πŸ˜•

  4. Go Oregon!

Building or expanding the Embassy in Afghanistan is a complete waste of money. The sooner we get out of there, all of us, the better.

Great cartoon! Our insurance is going up by $50 each pay period this year. I’m uninsurable without Otis. When does that pre-existing condition for adults kick in again?
