Yesterday’s speech could not have been more different from his Iraq speech of 8/31. That was a scripted speech in which Obama displayed none of his normal passion. This was full of fire and wit. He presented good ideas and took off the gloves to blast Republican obstruction. Here it is, about 45 minutes worth. If short on time, watch parts two and three.

Here’s my understanding of Pres. Obama’s $50 billion proposal:
• ROADS: Rebuild [JOBS] 150,000 miles of roads [JOBS] — renewing our commitment [JOBS] to the backbone of our transportation system [JOBS]
• RAILWAYS: Construct [JOBS] and maintain [JOBS] 4,000 miles of rail [JOBS] — enough to go coast-to-coast
• RUNWAYS: Rehabilitate [JOBS] or reconstruct [JOBS] 150 miles of runway — while putting in place a NextGen system [JOBS] that will reduce travel time and delays [JOBS]
But I suppose [PAYCHECKS] I could be misreading [PAYCHECKS] our president’s proposal [PAYCHECKS]
It’s good for America. That’s why Repubublicans oppose it.
Soianname – you nailed it. That was a terrific speech – I loved the car analogy! I think he’s reserved when addressing the Nation because Repubs might be watching (although I never watch Bush for fear of throwing something through the tv – and it’s a nice plasma) He’d mispronounce something in his first sentence and I’d turned it off. Obama is a really excellent orator especially when he’s in a crowd that is AFL-CIO invited. Damn, If I had know he was up there, I would have gone myself, back brace, cane and all. I’m only 45 minutes from Milwaukee – I’m eqi-distant from Chicago or Milwaukee, and well the bereries were up there – so back when I was poor, we go up there. Even Schlitz tastes good out of the tap, out of the can – not so good. And I usually go to Milwaukee fest, because they have all these HUGE hogs there that are so fat I don’t know how they can stand up. And all the 4H girls with all their ribbons taped to the cage. Really fun. Crappy food that you’re sorry you ate the next day but the brats 😆 are excellent.

I love when he said….. I see it in the letters I read every night, it breaks my heart. Those are the folks I got into politics for, they are the reason I am here.
This is the difference between the GOP and Obama. Our president has a heart and truly cares about the people in this country who suffer. I believe him when he says that…
Great point, Sue. Obama is often mistaken. That’s a long way from GOP hate and greed.
