As much time as the Republican heir apparent spends in tanning parlors, on the golf course and doing the night club circuit, far too many Ohioans donβt know him. Those who do donβt like him. Agent Orange was a bust in the latest poll.
It’s looking more and more likely that John Boehner will become Speaker of the House but he’s pretty unknown in Ohio and the folks who do have an opinion about him lean negative.
42% of Ohio voters say they don’t know enough about Boehner to rate him one way or the other. Among those who do 27% see him positively and 31% have an unfavorable view. Democrats (53%) dislike him more than Republicans (51%) like him and independents go against him by a 22/27 margin as well.
Only 28% of voters in the state want Boehner to become Speaker of the House if Republicans get the majority this fall while 44% explicitly say they want someone else and 28% are unsure. Republicans do by a 54/15 margin want Boehner to ascend to the top spot but Democrats (73/6) and independents (41/22) are not swayed by home state pride and think the GOP should pick someone else if they get in control⦠[emphasis added]

This is the Republican Partyβs best. We must remind voters of this every day.

What the hell, they don’t know him? Have they had their heads in the sand oh these so many years? Good grief read a paper. Look him up on the net. Well I’ll cross out Ohio for my place to settle down…;)
Tim, it blows me away too, bit I didn’t make this up… really! π
I looked up a map of his Ohio district and to me it seems to suggest its a rural area with Dayton and Cincinnati safely far away from his boundaries. It may be unfair but dammit I have a strong idea its very similar to the shallow and close minded area I live in.
Beach, that’s not unfair at all. You have it pegged.
Boehner’s district is a gem of gerrymandering. While every blue urban area in Ohio is divided and joined with red suburb and more rural areas to negate their votes, Boehner’s stretches across many counties all the way down the Ohio River on the border with WV and KY. It is about the reddest of the red in OH and almost assures him an easy victory with no real threat of an opponent. Support Fair Districts in OH na d across the country to keep jackasses like this used car salesman out of the seats of power.
Welcome, BA. π
Thanks for the local detail. IMHO, all districts should be roughly square.
Just the likelihood that this phony drunk screw-off could become Speaker, or that the crazed Darrell Issa would have subpoena power should make anyone think twice about voting Republican!
I want to say something positive. Crissa is my critter so I never forget to vote just for the pleasure of voting against him.
Welcome, Tom. π
Vote for the critter!
It should indeed, Jack, but how many realize it?
Tim, the sad fact is that a large majority of the Great Unwashed do not follow politics and not only know nothing, but don’t even care. I am constantly astounded by how many “educated” people I speak with who are completely clueless when it comes to things of a political nature. They are probably too busy following the antics of Paris Hilton and her ilk to have any idea who or what is driving the political scene.
Charles, that’s too true. I had a chat in the electronics store yesterday with a salesman who was impressed with how I apply home networking. He made the mistake of mentioning that he thought Democrats are far left. π
I think I may have awakened him.
Maybe one day he’ll step out of the golf cart and fall in a hole. I did once but I lived to tell about it.
How in God’s name can people vote when they don’t know the issues or a candidate’s position on them?
Leslie, people do not take their right to vote seriously.
Say it ain’t so TC!! Do ya really think it’s a done deal, the thugs are taking the House?? Can’t we still hold out for a miracle to happen, the dems come out fighting in October and the country WAKES THE HELL UP??? Please!!
It ain’t so, Sue. I do NOT think it’s a done deal. Remember that the my commentary is in blue. The block quoted part in black is the article’s author’s opinion.
I’m beginning to think Democrats PREFER being in the minority so they can can avoid accountability. Or do they just act like it?
Dave, that’s the $64,000 question.
they will vote them in and in 2 months there will be buyers remorse
watch
and boner – among the worst of a bad bunch, but he gets an awful lot of air time
And if they vote them in, I hate to consider what it will take to get them out again.
