Yesterday morning I got about three hours sleep when the temperature finally dipped below 90° in my apartment. It only stayed that way until about 10 AM, so I spent the day sweltering, wrapped in wet towels, and waiting it out. I did not reply to comments or return visits and may not today, because it is still 92° at my desk at 2:30 AM. Today is forecast hotter than yesterday, so it may be the end of the week before I can catch up. I did minimal research this morning which is why both the above stories are from a single source, and there are no Short Takes. Please hang in with me.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
The cartoon reminds me of my cousin and his wife. Just got a hate-mongering email from them showing the hideous Muslims protesting in London on a supposed “Religion of Peace Demonstration.” Trouble is that it was about 300-400 Muslims protesting in front of the Danish Embassy at the time the Danish newspaper printed the Mohammad cartoons. Yeah, the protesters were over the top with terrible signs, but clearly the photos were cherry-picked to NOT include the little factoid of exactly why they were protesting.
The London newspaper reporting the protest had many quotes from Muslim leaders deploring the protest.
Taking things out of context to fit a hate-filled agenda is a favorite ploy of the right-wing.
Oh, and I hope you get cooled off. Temps are supposed to drop over this week. Best wishes, Tom.
Just like my sister, a PALINBOT. No No No… I think I will send a donation in to Park51, (Cordoba House) in her name. She would love that.
Hope it cools off for you.

Number of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom casualties as confirmed by U.S. Central Command: 5609
The idea that a place where people were murdered is “sacred” really bothers me.
