Yesterday I managed to stay up to date on replying to comments and returning visits. Doing so today should present no difficulty.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today it took me 4:50. To do it, click here. That babe is a real dog. How did you do?
Fantasy Football:
Because it was clear that we will not get enough players, and CBS will not let us publish the league to get players from the general pool, I moved the league to Fox Sports, because they will let us go public. I have sent an email initiation to everyone who was in and two have responded, so far. If you would like to play, sign into Fox Fantasy Football with any MSN ID. The League ID is 1023560. The Password is nogop
Short Takes:
From CNN: A federal appeals court has denied Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer’s request for an expedited hearing on the state’s controversial immigration law. Instead, the case has been scheduled for a hearing during the first week in November.
Love it!
From Right Wing Watch: On September 11, the folks at Dove World Church in Gainesville, Florida (perhaps best known for their "No Homo Mayor" signs a few months back) will be hosting "International Burn A Quran Day."
What hypocrites Republicans are! If a Muslim group were to ban Bibles, every Republican in both the House and the Senate would need an underwear change.
From McClatchy DC: Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson Friday became the first Democrat to oppose Elena Kagan, President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominee.
Were I not so dead set against violence, Iβd be tempted to imitate Glen Beck.

Whatβs up this weekend?

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Poor Jan Brewer – and with the law on hold, she’ll have to wait until November to hear if her Nazi policy will survive a judicial appeal, which I doubt it will since it is unconstitutional on its face. BWAHAHAHAHAHA.
“Burn the Qur’an Day” – well that should go over well with uniting the different religions. How about we have a “Burn the Bible Day” – how well do you think that would go over?
Ben Nelson should just change his affiliate from D or R already. We’re sick of him anyway.
I was going for Islamic terrorists, but hey, that’s just wrong because GWB kept us safe. (HAHAHAHAHAHA) So I’ll have to go with stress. π
Lisa, you’re sooooo sympathetic. π
Not well, I think.
He has one use. He counts toward a majority. If Repiublicans get majorities they control the committees, the investigations, subpoenas, and the floor, unless we become the party of NO.
Great minds fall ujnder the same stress.
Interesting cartoon. I have to stop and think about what number one killer is. I guess it’s those New Black Panthers. Angry black men — eek. Then again, those death panels sound pretty scary. Sarah Palin warned us about them. And those Islamic terrorists, I, I just wish George W. Bush was still president so we could be safe from those monsters.
Sure you do. π
The legal blogs (at least those not embracing the Scalia-Thomas-Roberts right-wing of SCOTUS) agree that it ain’t looking good for xenophobic, rabid racist nativists … or Brewer:

Sidebar:
One of my favorite legal rejoinders was during Roberts’ confirmation hearings when he mendaciously claimed that as Chief Justice he would simply act as an umpire calling balls and strikes as he sees them.
To which Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) responded:
“It’s a little hard to see home plate from right field!”
Thanks for the links, Nameless. He should have said ‘extreme right field’.
“Dove World Church”??? What does that mean? Surely it doesn’t refer to the Holy Spirit or peace. Perhaps it’s named after dish detergent or overpriced candy bars…
Tim, it’s one of those GOP, Supply-side Jesus churches, like Westboro Baptist. It has nothing to do with authentic Christianity.
