Just when I thought that Fox News could not sink any lower than they have with their ACORN scam and their NBPP non-issue, what they did to Shirley Sherrod reaches previously unseen levels of depravity.
They aired a 38 second clip of her speech before the NAACP that made her appear to be denying assistance to white farmers due to racism. In context, the opposite is undoubtedly true. There is no doubt that this misrepresentation was intentional.
The NAACP called for her dismissal and the Obama administration fired her on the spot. Both were wrong to believe anything Fox airs. The NAACP has since apologized, as well they should. The Obama administration should immediately reinstate Shirley Sherrod with a public apology.
Rachel Maddow had the best coverage of those items I saw. Here are two clips. In the first, she explains what happened and how Fox misrepresented it.

In the second, Rachel and NAACP Director, Benjamin Jealous, discuss the NAACPβs role in the scandal, and how they were βhoodwinkedβ by Fox.

Fox has clearly shown that they are NOT a news organization. They are the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda.
Please call the Whitehouse at 202-456-1414. Ask them to immediately reinstate Shirley Sherrod and to launch a criminal investigation into this incident.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Fox is straight up lies 24/7.
GOP TV. That’s all it is.
Welcome, Simon. π Right on!
Why do they believe this crap with out investigation – I mean, it is, afterall, Faux News. WTF? This woman should be promplty re-instated.
Right, Lisa. The Obama administration was wrong, and the NAACP was wrong, but Faux Noise is evil.
They sure jumped the Gun on this. I wish the President himself would call her and apologize for all of us.
At least give her the job back. The NAACP owes a Public apology to her.
Charges should be brought against the Guy who started this along with Fox.
Tim, I agree, except that the NAACP has already offered her a profound public apoligy.
LOL! It’s about time the other shoe drops! I’m tired of hearing how racist white people are perceived to be. We can’t tolerate this type of behavior from Whites or Blacks whether it’s in your past or present. Next time, watch what you say on camera; in this day and age it will come back and destroy you regardless of your political affiliation. Iβm glad to see Fox News had the balls to run with the story. If this were a white person it would have 10 times the coverage by all news outlets.
Patrick, have you not learned that Breitbart’s story was an edited hatchet job? The problem with GOP lies is that people who want to believe them do, bo matter how obvious theproof to the contrary.
Freedom of speech does not mean freedom to lie and destroy careers for political reasons.
The airways belong to WE THE PEOPLE!
Ban FAUX Gnus and shut them down for being a criminal organization!
Breitbart, as well as FAUX executives and FAUX Gnus announcers all belong in jail.
Welcome, Kevin. You raise a good point. The bandwidth Fox occupies is public property. FCC should investigate them for a license violation over this.
We at Code Pink were protesting at noon in front of the Department of Agriculture. Big “MSM” media trucks were there and microphones came our way. We had signs and pitchforks. Did you see any of it?
We got our message through– Secretary Vilsack overturned the shameful firing of Shirley Sherrod a few hours later — not that we had anything to do with it!
Welcome Danny. I did not. Thank you for being there.
Just to see how Fox Noise would handle this new information I watched the three morning stooges plus Dick Morris dance around the whole affair. Somehow it was all Obama’s fault, while the blogger who started the whole thing was given a plass. At least that is the parts I saw, I heard very second hand that they may have said more but I did not see it.
Of course it was. Isn’t it always?
