Short Takes:
From McClatchy DC: The new cap plugging the gusher in the Gulf of Mexico was holding up on Saturday but BP officials still weren’t sure if and when they would begin siphoning oil to containment ships on the surface.
I heard on the news last night that they will start siphoning oil today.
From The Independent: Royal Bank of Scotland could be poised to sue Goldman Sachs for hundreds of millions of dollars after the American investment bank paid out $550m (Β£358m) to settle fraud charges brought by the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
Goldman neither admitted nor denied the SEC’s charges. However, as part of the settlement it did admit that it should have told investors in a controversial mortgage derivative known as Abacus that a hedge fund client which helped with the portfolio was betting on it failing.
Go RBS!! Put a kilt over Blankfeinβs head and bash him with bagpipes!!
From Alternet: Instead of saying racism is unacceptable in their movement, Palin and Tea Party leaders pretend the NAACP called them all racists.
Thatβs a lie, of course. The GOP and their brownshirts refuse to condemn Teabagger racism, because that would alienate a significant portion, although not all, of their base.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
nothing on Lindsay or Mel?
LOL
Why? π
I hope and pray (and I’m not a prayer person) that this cap holds – not for BP’s sake, but for the environment’s sake.
Sue away RBS and every other bank the got ripped off from GS. I want to see these assholes in bankruptcy court!
Well, even if the NAACP did call them racists, they would be right. Why the pretending on the teabaggers part? Oh, because everyone knows it’s the truth.
Great cartoon. My village wants to come and inspect the installation on my new A/C unit – to which I said WTF? They have already put a moratorium on solar panels and windmills on personal property, which has been in place for a year now while they ‘study’ it. I’m still going to put up my solar panels after Otis builds them this winter, and then sue the crap out of the village if they give me any crap for it. What kind of socalist crap is this that they can tell me what I can and can not put on my house? What are solar panels an ‘eyesore’? Well so are people’s houses who don’t cut their grass, weed their gardens, have leaves in their gutters or frizbees on their roofs – how far are they going to take this? This is an invasion of my personal property and privacy and I highly doubt that any of my neighbors would care if I had solar panels on my roof. In fact, they would probably congratulate me and ask how we did it. I wonder how far the village is willing to go? We’ll see I guess.
Amen, amen, amen, and use the MOM voice. That compact is totally absurd.
