Massa Punks Glen Beck

I have delayed posting on the Eric Massa situation until there was something more definitive on the issue.  The right wing blogosphere talking heads were drooling blood in anticipation of Massaโ€™s hour long interview with their most rabid TV wing-nut, Glen Beck.  Consider this from Limbaugh:

GOPKoolAid Eric Massa, the ex-congressman who Rush Limbaugh celebrated at length on his show yesterday, once went on a YouTube tirade blasting Limbaugh as a "schoolyard bully" and a "pompous coward" whose show is "destructive to this country."

The cognitive dissonance between Massa’s past identity as a fiery Democratic congressman and his new role as what Politico calls a "conservative media hero" is likely to get even more intense tonight when Massa is interviewed by Glenn Beck.

Limbaugh presents a striking example.

Yesterday, Limbaugh spent a lengthy chunk of his show [pig delinked] promoting Massa and his charge that Democratic leaders forced him out of Congress. "We’re doing our part here to make it a national story," Limbaugh said, adding that:

"This guy is as fired up as anybody I’ve ever heard anywhere opposed this, and the process and how they’re getting it done. This guy is going to have so much support from people."โ€ฆ [emphasis added]

The interview did not turn out out as expected.  Lawrence Oโ€™Donnell covered it.

Did you see the expressions on Beckโ€™s face?  What an idiot!! ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

As for Massa, itโ€™s clear that heโ€™s not a stable individual.  If he is, I think I understand his issue, because I see it frequently in my volunteer work.  For whatever reason, he never learned to develop boundaries that would enable him to tell the difference between what is and what isnโ€™t appropriate behavior.  I hope he gets some professional help, and I wish him well.  He may be a few cans short of a six pack, but he tried to do great things for the progressive cause before the stress became more than he could manage.

As for Beck, I loved every minute of his pathetic attempts to cajole Massa into revealing the dirt that Massa didnโ€™t have.  Far more off the wall that Massa, Beck is several plantations short of a tea bag.  Even if he were sane, he would still be a foul misanthrope.

  1. If there were any clinical psychiatrists watching Massa v. Beck, they would have been drooling. Imagine the scholarly paper that could be written about them. The apology Beck made to his audience about wasting their time, is one he should make nightly.

    • Holte, I agree. But giving the left an angoing sourse of material to use against the GOP isn’t a complete waste. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. What a trainwreck! There’s this unhinged former Congressman doing his Captain Queeg from THE CAINE MUTINY impression being “interviewed” by the most unstable man in the history of American media.

A scene Paddy Chayefsky could only image in NETWORK more than 30 years ago.

I guess Dr. Drew had the night off, heh?

  3. Massa is a nut job but I did like that he left Beck twisting in the wind….

  4. I laughed hysterically as Beck grew more and more bewildered and frustrated. What a total jerk, and what a pair of wacko idiots!

  5. Could one claim Massa was baiting Glenn Beck, hmmmmmm? Did Glenn Beck just get Mass-Baited?

  6. Just passing by to say hi again.

  7. I mean, this is another dream come true don’t you think? The Rethugs think they have a real coup, and then voila’ it just explodes in their faces. I cannot stop laughing at it all. What a bunch of sad and silly people are rising to the surface of the cesspool that is Repuglicanism.

    • Welcome Sherry. I like you blog and have added you to the blogroll.

It certainly is. Just when they thought they had control of the news cycle for a couple days, BOOM!! ๐Ÿ˜›

Politics is like a toilet. Republicans float.

  8. It was something to watch Glenn Beck meet his match….

  9. Sorry guys,

I think you have all missed the point.

Nancy Pelosi and President Obama: Each has to make a star turn right now,or, in my opinion the whole shooting match iwill be lost.
Need a sucess, any success an achievement even in a weakened Medicare bill.. And how to achieve a drop in unemployment?

Like John Maynard Keynes said in another context, “In the long run, we shall all be dead.”
If Mr. Obama and Speaker Pelosi do not achieve that star turn at exactly this point, Republicans may prove that money talks, even if it is poor, battered truth that walks.

    • Ivan, I think you are absoultely correct, but I don’t anyone has missed that point, as we have been discussing that in detail in other threads.
