5 Worst Trump Moments of 2018

At this time of year, we often get a chance to look back, at some of the highlights, or in this case lowlights, of the year.  Kelly Eleveld, a Kos staffer wrote an interesting piece on the 2018 lowlights of President Donald Trump, aka Fuhrer Drumpfenfarten, aka Putin’s Puppet, aka Tangerine Traitor.

Let’s face it—Donald Trump has logged one of the worst political years of any modern American president, save perhaps Richard Nixon, who was actually driven from office in 1974. From his abysmal domestic and foreign policy to his administration’s boundless corruption, Trump’s incompetence has really outshined that of every U.S. commander in chief dating back to Watergate. Outside of managing to install Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court as Justice Anthony Kennedy’s replacement (a big win, to be sure), Trump has pretty much laid a goose egg in terms of accomplishments. Yet on the negative end of the ledger, he has truly stacked up loss after political loss. So here’s a look back at Trump’s worst moments in 2018—may they bring you a little joy and good cheer at the end of a hard-fought year. (**Editor’s Note: This was written before Trump’s epic end-of-year meltdown on wall funding, Syria, etc., so please keep cut me a little slack.)

5. Helsinki

There was nothing quite like watching Trump fold like a house of cards on the international stage as he kowtowed to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the man who directed millions of dollars toward a concerted effort to subvert the will of the American people…

I shared only the fifth of five.  Click through for the other four.

I’d say the author did a good job.  However,  the Fuhrer has so many “worst” moments that a different author might have been equally valid choosing different examples.

  1. I always find Kerry Eleveld highly accurate. Of course, he is staff, which means (a) he has been personally vetted for journalistic standards, and (b) someone else on staff is looking at his articles before they fget published (since Daily Kos is committed to stand behind him.) Reading the comments (where more than one person has said something to the effect that “If Helsinki is #5, you know you’re in for disaster”), yes, there’s some disagreement. But there are SO MANY. I’m cool with the list as is.

  2. Open treason – ain’t that the truth! The Orange Ogre has betrayed this country and done immeasurable damage, some of which is either irreparable or will take decades to undo. He needs to be forced out of office, along with all the other slimes in his excuse for a cabinet.

  3. Good post, TC.
Each day that he is potus of these United States, it is a disaster for the People. As he doesn’t seem to care about any of these 5 issues, (and more), it’s seems that all he does is to tweet something that conflicts with telling the truth. Every. Single. Day.

  4. Good posting TomCat.
Sad to think that we can look back throughout the entire year of 2018 and politically speaking we have nothing to be proud of that tRump has done. Not one single flipping thing.
Each and every day/week, it’s like he waits till the weekend to hit us with his idiotic tweets causing disasters everywhere. Seems like he enjoys/loves making everyone’s life so miserable.

  5. I suppose we al have our favourite ‘five worse moments’, but it always amazes me how little we need to go back in our memories to find them. Each time his latest worst moment is erased from my mind by the latest ‘worst ever’. I just don’t know how we can stand two more years of it.

  6. Given Twitler’s panoply of corruption, it’s practically impossible to pick the “Worst” from the smorgasbord of his malfeasance as it’s just too chockablock full.

These are “The Guardian” selections of the Worst Weeks of 2018 for Twitler:

    • There is, of course, a difference between the most damaging things that happened to him and the worst things he himself did.  For instance, I see Helsinki is on both lists, and rightly so.  But also on the Guardian’s list is the week Michael Cohen entered a plea bargain.  That was a dreadful week for Trump, but it wasn’t something he did.  Not directly.  Not that week.  I think both lists are good in their own definitions.

  7. Only 5?!?! ?
    Thanx TC

  8. The resident in charge of and at the centre of the chaos at the WH is an idiot!  We could add his tête-à-tête with Kim Jong Un aka Rocket Man which had the Orange Ogre coming off looking like a USDA certified grade A idiot! … not to mention putting the world in danger of nuclear war.  Of course if 2017 is included, we could include Charlottesville  and other incidents to the list.

I wish I could just snap my fingers and he would be gone!

  9. Thanks all.  Holiday Hugs! 22
