In case you missed the #HimToo meme’s recent 15-minutes of fame this week, I’ll help you out.
It originally started way back as an ally of the #MeToo movement providing a platform for men to share their experiences of sexual assaults. But just like “All Lives Matter” started as an ill-conceived rightwing backlash to “Black Lives Matter”, the #HimToo meme was coopted by Trumpkins during the Kavanaugh hearings. It was used as a warning to mothers with fearmongering that their poor, innocent sons might well become victims of false sexual assault claims by conniving, evil females.
Anybody can say literally anything about any man, and it will be automatically believed if the accuser is a woman. No presumption of innocence. No burden of proof on the accuser. Complete upending of the same legal system we all expect to protect our rights. #himtoo pic.twitter.com/NFMmLq66Y3

But since we Liberals are not immune to reality like Rethuglicans, let’s take a look at a couple of Fact Checks including Snopes: A scientific reviews shows that false sexual assault claims are very rare – accounting for only about 5 percent. And sadly, sexual assault is actually chronically underreported.

But blaming victims while trying to turn themselves into the poor victim is a common Rethuglican ploy. So of course it was greeted with open-arms by Trumpkin provocateurs.
One such MAGA Mom (BlueStarNavyMom3) stepped forward with a Tweet falsely claiming that her Navy veteran son – Pieter Hanson – is a victim and she involuntarily signed him up for the #HimToo masses. (I have no doubt she entirely missed the irony that she was making a FALSE claim to protect males against false claims.)
After the Tweet went viral with mocking parodies, she took the Tweet down … and then deleted her entire account. But here’s a screenshot of it:
since she deleted it here’s a screenshot. one of the greatest posts of all time pic.twitter.com/Z6TUKOjH9T

If you can’t read it, it says:
“This is MY son,” began his mom’s viral post, which featured a photograph of Hanson posing in his Navy uniform. “He graduated #1 in boot camp. He was awarded the USO award. He was #1 in A school. He is a gentleman who respects women. He won’t go on solo dates due to the current climate of false sexual accusations by radical feminists with an axe to grind. I VOTE. #HimToo.”
After the parodies made her Tweet go viral, one of Pieter Hanson’s brothers stepped in to shed some light on the matter:
My brother is trending on twitter because of my moms ridiculous tweet. I’m a mixture of laughing hard and feeling bad for him. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/YG93x9ikii
— Jon Hanson (@DancinJonHanson) October 9, 2018
But that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy some of the creative parodies!
This is my son, processing his reaction to being told what his next trip to the vet will entail. He will no longer go on dates, because, well. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/YNERn94mGP
— John Scalzi (@scalzi) October 8, 2018
And of course motel manager, Norman Bates – who said “A mother is a boy’s best friend.”
This is MY son. He singlehandedly runs a small hotel. He's a homeowner. He knows a boy's best friend is his mother. He goes a little mad sometimes. He won't go on solo dates due to the current climate of false accusations by radical anti-shower-stabbing feminists. I VOTE. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/qSYY7Cy46E

And Ted “Card-Carrying-Republican” Bundy
This is MY son, Ted. He worked for Republicans, went to law school, and is described as charming & charismatic. He drives a sensible Volkswagen. He WILL go on solo dates, if you’re interested- even during the current climate of ridiculous accusations against him. I VOTE. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/lEkjbWn0da
— smy pan (@Amyspano1) October 9, 2018
(I forgot he was a delegate to the 1968 Republican National Convention.)
And of course you knew you were going to get “Rolled” …
This is my son. He was #1 on the charts. He won’t go on solo dates even though he never gave up, let you down, run around, or deserted you, make you cry, say goodbye, tell a lie nor hurt you #HimToo pic.twitter.com/Q5sMpGIVR3
— Tony Posnanski (@tonyposnanski) October 8, 2018
And a “stellar” appearance …
This is MY sun. He graduated #1 in THE SOLAR SYSTEM. He is a star who respects planets. He won't go on solo orbits because his gravitational pull is so strong that one day he will explode! I VOTE. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/FXe5ipyOSM
— Zack Bornstein (@ZackBornstein) October 9, 2018
And a couple of edgy ones …
This is My son. He graduated #1 in his class at Nazareth High. He is a gentleman who loves women and respects virgins like his mother. He is afraid to go on solo dates with women because he is afraid they will lie and say he made them wash his feet.
That, plus he’s gay.#HimToo pic.twitter.com/sMR88fggAQ— God (@TheTweetOfGod) October 9, 2018
This is MY son. He sexually assaulted Christine Blasey Ford. He likes beer. A LOT. His favorite game is Devil’s Triangle. He will always be naked underneath his robe. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/dfyn7JnXRj
— Diane N. Sevenay (@Diane_7A) October 9, 2018
But being the true gentleman that he is (he’s also an ordained minister), Pieter Hanson took matters into his own hands wanting to “turn this around” with his very first Tweet mimicking the photo his Mom used:
That was my Mom. Sometimes the people we love do things that hurt us without realizing it. Let’s turn this around. I respect and #BelieveWomen . I never have and never will support #HimToo . I’m a proud Navy vet, Cat Dad and Ally. Also, Twitter, your meme game is on point. pic.twitter.com/yZFkEjyB6L
— Pieter Hanson (@Thatwasmymom) October 9, 2018
Not only is Pieter Hanson “a proud Navy vet and Cat Dad”, but he’s a supporter of #MeToo – a true feminist Ally with a sense of humor! He followed up his very first tweet with a series of photos of his cats, and a plea to Tweet posters and viewers to donate to cancer charities on behalf of his one of his other brothers, a cancer survivor and his hero.
So we’ll close with his call for cancer donations …
I’m new at this… so this time with pictures ! So #negativeintopositives my little brother Cooper is a child survivor of non hodgkin lymphoma and my personal hero. Please donate to @LLSusa @MakeAWish pic.twitter.com/65Zeay8vPa
— Pieter Hanson (@Thatwasmymom) October 9, 2018
And you can never go wrong ending with kitty cat pictures – here are Pieter’s …
Don’t worry guys. YES I have cat pictures. Yes I adopted a kitten from my older brother. @DancinJonHanson pic.twitter.com/YZaVWQ4fMi

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Good one, Nameless. Perhaps Republicans can use #HimToo to identify themselves to fellow perverts.

Saw this, but I love what you’ve done with it. I guess I should say I saw part of it, but you have expanded beautifully. Pieter seems like a very nice guy indeed. In his position, I’d have a few choice words for the Mom. i hope at least some of what he did say will penetrate (pun not intended). Lovely cats he has. A house tiger and a parlor panther.
The cat parent might consider letting the cat date. If the female cats will believe he’s fixed, he might be very popular indeed. I had a rescue mom cat just having weaned her kittens and one of my neutered males started sniffing around her, to which she reacted fiercely. I tried to explain that he was “fixed” and couldn’t make her have kittens, and she gave me a “speaking look” – one of the loudest I have ever seen – “That’s what they all say.”
Forgot to add that that Republican response is so predictable (and inevitable) it now has an acronym: DARVA (Deny, Accuse, Reverse the roles of Victim and Accused).
Acronyms: Just too many of them these days. I’m always trying to figure out what those acronyms stand for. I read the articles and do look for them to try to figure them out. Sadly, it has become a working chore. sigh…
.
You might think about bookmarking The Urban Dictionary. Google is good if the acronym is for some kind of group or agency, but the Urban Dictionary is the place to go for the salty ones.
Brilliant post, love it!!!
RETHUGS LIE, USE PSEUDO SCIENCE & DODGY FACTS!!!
So funny, thanks Nameless.
Thankfully Peter Hanson is a lot smarter than his mother but also a kind guy who understood that his well-intentioned mother was way out of her league here. She may be an old-school Republican, but he seems to have a different set of genes. Here’s to hope that the gene will die off completely in a few years time.
Gawd, I saw/read about this story. Kudos to Peter and his brother too!
Love the headline too! says it all, imho. There are great comebacks with twitter too.
Let me just say as a mom to both my son and daughter, who are both Navy Veterans themselves…… I would have been mortified if I had posted something like this. While she, #BlueStarNavyMom may have been well-intentioned, it bombed right back at her, and I’m glad it did.
*Speaking of the Ted Bundy (*smy pan’s tweet) which brought back memories….we were living in Tallahassee, FL, at the time, when Bundy broke into the FSU’s Chi Omega sorority house, and killed two women and hospitalized two others before breaking into another student’s home. As a community, we were absolutely horrified and deeply saddened at what happened. We were relieved that Bundy was finally caught too.
I also remember the kidnapping/murder of little Kimberly Leach, (12 y.o) of Lake City, and the local press conference with Bundy and the sheriff at the time, as his trial was the first to be nationally televised.
Boy, it’s been almost 41 years of that happening, but some things one never forgets, and the lingering emotional pain for those left behind.
Thanks, Nameless for a great post, and Joanne for cross-posting.
A very unusual post… Thanks, Nameless.
Hugzzz, Jim.
.
Thanks Nameless!
Pieter’s ginger tabby looks just like my Winnie, including the girth! I sure hope he does not become diabetic although I think Pieter will take that in stride . . . he seems from this like a nice young man. Not so sure about his mother though. She definitely is a Diaper Don acolyte. My condolences to her sons.
